“A humorous, enlightening and delightfully honest journey! Do read Before, Afdre and After (my stroke…)“
By Elaine C Pereira
“What a Wild Ride! What a Journey and what a Book! It’s honest, funny, hard, and so very real! I’m an Occupational Therapist and understand how terrifying it must feel to watch yourself unravel in real time from the inside out, powerless to stop your own derailing neurological train! I appreciate the details and examples of Maureen’s struggle.
She includes pictures, sketches, charts and exercises; these might not be of great interest to readers without a medical background, but they were to me. It’s such a harrowing struggle to regain what you shouldn’t have lost and a such a young age. Kudos to you Maureen!”
“SPOTLIGHT HONORS” with Maureen Twomey
Hey! That’s me! 😉
“If you need some inspiration today – my high school and UCLA (and fellow Sproul Hall front desker!) friend Maureen E. Twomey gave a great interview this morning about her post-stoke experience, which she documented in her own book. She never lost her sense of humor during the whole ordeal, which is saying something!” – Tanya Appuhn Crates
“She rambles a bit, but listen two her anyway.” – Maureen Twomey
That Christmas Sue got a freezer to put Sally (the Snow Girl) in when it was hot outside.
This year she got a great book, Before, Afdre, and After !
Praise for Before, Afdre, and After (My stroke … oh what fun)
“Wow. I can appreciate the fact that this book was not as easy as turning spell checker on. The amazing story, the endless support of friends and family and the continuous conquest of innumerable obstacles (permanent? Ha!) all made for an interesting, thought provoking, and impactful read. Veeeeery interesting! I would even recommend this to my kids …”
Where to get my book:
P.S.: My old book (including Sue) is here,

(Nothing to do with Halloween, but it’s an inspiring book anyway)
See you next year!”

“Courageous, honest, raw, powerful”
By Monica, September 21, 2016 (in Kindle)
“Courageously written, and shockingly honest and raw, the reader gets to experience through the author’s words what it’s like to have a stroke and go through the long process of recovery. Touching, powerful, and real, this story is very moving and filled with insights and tender moments. The author also includes many links and helpful information for anyone who needs similar support and further information.
I just wish that some of the images of reports, writings, and various samples, were a bit bigger – they were too small for me to read. But that did not take away from the story, which was very powerful and made a big impact. I thank the author for sharing this story.”
P.S.: Sorry! — In Kindle the images of reports, writings, and various samples, are smaller. Until Kindle maybe makes the image etc. bigger, here’s two pics of Kindle vs. Print:
